How To Make Wood Pellets With A Modern Pellet Machine At PelHeat, we focus on educating people on how to make wood pellets. Making wood pellets is a growing industry, however not just with large scale production, but also with small scale production and even making pellets at home. Making wood pellets is much harder than many people realise, and many make the mistake of purchasing equipment before really understanding how wood pellets are made. However, that's where we come in, we educate you on how the process works, and the equipment you need and where to find it. Many different raw materials can be compressed into fuel pellets. For instance view the video below to see just a small range of fuels which can be compressed into pellets. As you can see from the video, many different biomass materials including wood can be processed into fuel pellets, its just about knowing how. The first thing to realise, is the key to making good quality wood pellets and other biomass fuel pellets most of the time is to do with the raw material and not the pellet mill. Sure, the pellet machine needs to be of the right design, and maintained properly, however even a perfect pellet mill with the wrong raw material will make rubbish pellets. You need a raw material that is of the right particle size and moisture content. If the moisture content is too high or too low, it is not possible to create a highly compressed smooth pellet. Also, some materials may not bind together properly. In this case an additional binder maybe required to hold the pellets together, modified corn starch is commonly used. However, these are just basic points, there is much more to making wood pellet than this, click below to learn more. You can also see our small pellet machine in action. |
