Wood Pellet Mills and Biomass Fuel Pellets

In the last decade the wood pellet market has seen substantial growth. The reasons for this are partly due to the increasing prices of oil and gas, and partly due to a greater awareness of climate change, and how the use of oil and gas produce carbon emissions, which accelerate the rate of climate change and global warming. At PelHeat we develop and promote wood pellet mills and other pellet production and combustion solutions. The Wood Pellet Production Guide has been developed to provide introductions to the workings of wood pellet mills

Burning Biomass and Wood Pellets Fuel

At PelHeat we produce and burn a wide variety of different pellet fuels. These include fuel pellets made from traditional softwood and hardwood residues. However it also includes burning pellets made form other residues such as grasses, straws, energy crops and more. The video below is of our multi-fuel biomass pellet boiler.

What are Biomass and Wood Fuel Pellets?

Wood and biomass pellets are simply a compressed form of their original raw material. Fuel pellets have various attributes which make them ideal for efficient combustion and automatic burning solutions. Pellets flow like a liquid, and have a much higher density than the original raw material. Increased density means increased combustion temperatures, which in tern means more heat is generated, less ash is produced and less smoke. However each fuel pellet raw material has its own unique combustion characteristics. Alternative Energy and Carbon Emissions

The increased use of wood pellets as a fuel source is an ideal source of alternative energy and a method to help reduce global carbon emissions. Wood pellets and other biomass pellets are made from materials already part of the current carbon cycle. Therefore the carbon they release is absorbed by the next growth of biomass, and the process has a neutral effect on climate change.

Wood Pellet Mills and Wood Pellet Presses

The Wood Pellet Production Guide will show how wood pellet mills operate and the factors that need to be controlled to produce quality pellets. Wood pellet mills can also be referred to as pellet presses or machines. The guide will discuss various details, for example how pellet mill speed and torque can effect pellet quality and mill productivity. Also how die condition and design can affect productivity and pellet quality, and much more.
