The Need For A Quality Wood Pellets Press

At PelHeat we focus on the production of pellet fuels and making wood pellets in a press. We help our clients with small scale pellet presses that can be used in the home all the way up to large scale wood pellet production facilities.

Wood pellets can be made from many different materials. Sawdust is the most common, from the waste of the timber industry. However the waste from forestry management and other maintaince activities is also viable. One of the best solutions is to use a wood pellet press to process local wood into fuel pellets for the local market. These fuel pellets can then be used in stoves and boilers, please see an example below. Also you can use many different materials for compression into fuel pellets. The process starts with size reduction. This is achieved with either a chipper or shredder. The size of the raw material needs to be fairly small, around 4mm. Then the moisture content of the raw material needs to be checked. If the moisture content is over 15% then drying is needed. However with proper planning much of this moisture can be removed via a solar dryer. Or if you pile wood chip at a certain angle, rain runs off it and you get most of the moisture out of the wood. Once reduced in size and moisture the wood is ready for the pellet press. Controlled feed into the pellet machine is very important as it means that the pellet press will not be overloaded. In the pellet press immense heat and pressure push the wood through holes in the die, typically 6mm for wood fuel pellets. On the next page you can see our small wood pellet mill in action as it takes in oak sawdust and produces premium grade wood pellets. We also offer our clients highly automated small pellet plants for fuel pellets. These plants can be operated by one person to keep labour and operating costs to a minimum.
